Terms of Service
Last updated: June 12, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website and services provided by Barker HRS operating as Job Scout (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By using our website or purchasing our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services
Job Scout provides résumé and cover letter writing, LinkedIn optimization, curated job-search feeds, application preparation, interview preparation, and related services delivered to you. You always submit your own applications. We never apply to employers on your behalf and never represent you to employers; the act of applying is always yours. Our products are:
- Resume Starter Pack — a one-time engagement that builds your application kit: a master résumé and cover letter written from scratch, with a written read on the two or three role families your history sells, which you review and approve before anything else is built; a résumé and cover letter set for each of your target roles; LinkedIn guidance written for your profile; and a 30-day search filtered to your approved roles during which you select five postings for which we build five customized résumé-and-cover-letter packages, each a reusable template. Up to two revision rounds on the master set are included. If you decide within 48 hours of receiving the master résumé review not to continue, $100 CAD / $71 USD is refunded and the master résumé is yours to keep (see our Refund Policy). This is the entry point to Job Scout. A Military-to-Civilian Edition of the Pack is the same engagement at the same scope with an always-on 10% service discount; it is a variant of the Pack, not a separate product.
- Search — a subscription (monthly, or a three-month block paid once) in which we send you a curated feed of live postings matched to your search mandate, with a scoreboard. You apply yourself; it does not include per-posting tailoring.
- Ready to Apply — an invitation-only monthly subscription in which, for every posting that matches the search mandate you set, we prepare a complete application (a résumé tailored to that posting, a cover letter, and the apply link) and deliver it in batches for you to review and submit.
- Customize a Job — one-time, pay-as-you-go tailoring of a résumé and cover letter for a single posting you send us (also available as a three-pack).
- Concierge — a fully managed 90-day engagement offered by application. It includes the foundation work, so it does not require a separate Resume Starter Pack.
- Add-Ons — one-time extras such as LinkedIn Booster, AI Workplace Training, and Curated Interview Questions.
All services are described on our Services and Pricing page. We reserve the right to modify our service offerings at any time.
2. The Resume Starter Pack Is Required First
The Resume Starter Pack is a prerequisite for Search, Ready to Apply, Customize a Job, and Add-Ons, because each builds on the master résumé, role sets, approved roles, and LinkedIn profile that the Pack produces. Our checkout enforces this requirement. (Concierge is the exception: it includes the foundation work and may be purchased on its own, by application.)
3. Payment Terms
- Prices are listed in both Canadian dollars (CAD) and U.S. dollars (USD). You choose your currency at checkout.
- Applicable taxes (including HST for Canadian purchases) are calculated and shown at checkout.
- Payment is processed securely by Stripe on Stripe-hosted checkout pages. We never receive or store your card details.
- You will receive an email receipt from Stripe upon successful payment.
4. Subscriptions, Renewal & Cancellation
Search (monthly) and Ready to Apply are recurring subscriptions. By subscribing you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method on a monthly basis until you cancel.
- Automatic renewal: Your plan renews automatically each month at the price in effect when you subscribed, plus applicable taxes, until cancelled. The three-month Search block is paid once and does not renew automatically.
- What each delivers: Search delivers a curated feed of live postings with a scoreboard; Ready to Apply delivers prepared applications for postings matching your mandate. Neither sells a fixed number of “application credits.”
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time through the billing portal linked in your receipt and account emails, or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period. You retain access through the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Price changes: We will give you advance notice of any change to your subscription price; changes take effect on a future renewal, never the current period.
5. Service Delivery
- Resume Starter Pack: the master résumé review within 48 hours of your completed intake and achievement form; the role-specific résumé and cover letter sets and LinkedIn guidance within 48 hours of your approval, followed by a 30-day search filtered to your approved roles and the five customized packages for the postings you select. Up to two revision rounds on the master set. If you decide within 48 hours of the master résumé review not to continue, $100 CAD / $71 USD is refunded and the master résumé is yours.
- Search: a curated feed of live postings sent on an ongoing basis (typically every other day) for as long as your subscription or three-month block is active.
- Ready to Apply: prepared application batches delivered on an ongoing basis as matching live postings are found.
- Customize a Job: a tailored résumé and cover letter for the posting you submit, typically within a few business days.
- Concierge: deep targeting, the full document set, prepared applications every other day, and interview prep, across a 90-day engagement.
- Add-Ons: LinkedIn Booster within 5–7 business days; AI Workplace Training scheduled by mutual arrangement; Curated Interview Questions delivered as a digital product.
Delivery timelines are estimates and may vary. We will communicate any delays promptly.
6. Intellectual Property
Upon full payment, you own all deliverables created for you (résumés, cover letters, LinkedIn content, etc.). We retain the right to use anonymized examples of our work for marketing purposes unless you request otherwise in writing.

9. Limitation of Liability

10. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes will be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the applicable jurisdiction.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 where it applies to subscription renewals and cancellations, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services if a client provides false information, engages in abusive behavior toward our team, or violates these Terms.
