5. Data Retention
Leads (people who contacted us but did not become paying clients)
- 0 to 90 days from last activity: we keep what you sent us (resume, job-search goals, contact details) while we discuss whether to work together.
- After 90 days with no conversion: an automated daily job deletes your resume file and reduces our record to a small tombstone (name, email, who referred you, the date we purged). This lets us recognize you if you come back, and stops us from re-emailing you about a referral cycle you did not act on.
- Reply “DELETE” at any time during these 90 days and we wipe everything within hours.
The 90-day window resets every time you take new action with us (reply to an email, fill a form, etc.).
Active and former clients (people who paid for the service)
- During the engagement: we keep your information for as long as we are delivering the service.
- Service records: retained for up to 3 years after last service delivery so we can pick up where we left off if you return.
- Payment records: retained for 7 years per Canadian tax and legal requirements.
- Right-to-be-forgotten: you may request deletion at any time. We will delete everything we can; we may retain minimal billing records as legally required and will tell you exactly what stays.
Other
- Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics default (14 months).
- Newsletter subscribers: until unsubscription or deletion request.
- Consent records: retained for 3 years minimum for audit purposes.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Port your data to another service
- Restrict processing of your data
- Object to processing
- Not be subject to automated decision-making

7. Your Rights Under PIPEDA (Canada)
We operate in Canada and are governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Withdraw consent for processing, subject to legal or contractual obligations
- Request deletion — reply “DELETE” to any of our emails, or email jay@barkerhrs.com with the word “delete my data”. Your information is removed within hours and we send a confirmation.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you believe we have mishandled your information.
We do not charge for any of these requests and do not require you to justify them. We respond within 30 days.
8. Your Rights Under CCPA/CPRA (California)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Delete your personal information
- Opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Limit use of sensitive personal information

9. International Data Transfers

10. How to Exercise Your Rights
The fastest way to delete your data is to reply “DELETE” to any email you have received from us — our system recognizes this and removes your information within hours, with a confirmation reply.
