About Job Scout.

Job Scout started as a tool I built for myself because I didn’t feel like looking for a job. The tedious parts — tailoring a résumé for every posting, writing a cover letter that actually fits the role, keeping track of what I’d already sent — were exactly the kind of work I’d rather automate than do. So I did.

I’m an Armed Forces veteran and an AI builder based in Ottawa. I spend my time building software that takes the tedious parts out of otherwise frustrating work. Job Scout is one of those tools.

How this started

A process I built because I didn’t feel like job hunting.

I was between roles. I knew what a good job search looked like — tailor each résumé, write a specific cover letter, verify the posting is real before you spend an hour on it — and I also knew I didn’t feel like doing any of that by hand. So I did what I do: I built a process.

I set up a search that looked at jobs based on my actual skills and experience. Then I automated the slow parts — tailoring the résumé and the cover letter to each posting, making sure they were right, keeping track of what went out. Some days I’d auto-approve the matches. Other days I’d get a list and pick which ones to apply for. It turned the search into something I actually enjoyed running, because the part I don’t like (the tedium) was handled, and the part I do like (building) was the whole job.

It worked faster than I expected. I landed an interview pretty quickly. I didn’t get that job, but I was surprised and a little pleased that the thing I’d built for myself was actually performing.

Every Friday I meet with an AI community called AI Exchange. I mentioned what I’d built, almost in passing. Someone in the group said, “My clients could use that.” That’s where this stopped being a personal tool.

I generalized it — made it less about me and more about anyone running a search. I tested it on my daughter. I learned the hard way what scales and what doesn’t. Then my friend from AI Exchange introduced me to ten people who were willing to pay a small amount to help me build it out. That was Cohort 1. Their feedback told me what was missing, what was annoying, and what actually helped.

Cohort 2 was another ten — a stress test. Twenty clients in different stages, different industries, different countries, all at once. That’s where I found out whether the system could really hold up, or whether it was only good for a party trick. It held up. And along the way we picked up affiliate partners who started passing our name along by word of mouth.

Now we’re opening Cohort 3. Ten more spots, the lowest price this service will ever cost, and a waiting list for anyone who contacts us after it fills. I’m still building. Right now I’m working on turning military service documentation into civilian résumés, so veterans don’t have to translate their own careers from scratch.

That’s the whole story. I made my job search less stressful by automating the parts I hated. The thing I built kept working when other people used it. So now I’m on a mission to make the job search less stressful for the people who need it more than I did.

How it works

How we work with clients

01

Discovery call

A free 15-minute conversation to understand what you do, what you want next, and whether what we’ve built is a fit for your search.

02

Build the master résumé

We work from your real experience and build one master résumé in your voice — the foundation everything else is tailored from.

03

Tailored application packages

We find roles that match your background, verify each posting is actually live, and email you a ready-to-send package for every one you approve.

04

Interview prep when it’s time

Once interviews start coming in, we prep you — company research, likely questions, and STAR-method coaching for the specific role.
